Dirk D. Thelen

Principal of Residential Architecture, Dirk supervises architectural design teams on a broad range of projects, including affordable, set-aside, and alternative-delivery housing. Through early training in construction technology and more than four decades of practical experience, he works fluently across client, collaborators, city planner and government agency lines. Dirk has built a reputation as much for his congenial style as his inventive design solutions and their “buildability.” His projects express not only his thorough understanding of his clients’ requirements, but also his appreciation of contemporary architecture and the vernacular regional architecture of Southern and Northern California.
