For more than two years, I've been telling our employees that If we can just get through these next two months, this mess will be over. By now, I've made that claim too many times to count. The perfect storm that decimated the housing industry and felled financial giants and automakers is still rearing its ugly head. And we in the industry continue to let it strike fear and uncertainty into our businesses, our employees, and our hearts.
I urge you to take action today and make your opinion known. Learn more about this bill online at www.fixhousingfirst.com. Take a look and then take action. Together, we can outlast the storm.
By continuing to watch from the sidelines and "hope for the best", we are making absolutely no impact on our own futures. Doing nothing accomplishes nothing. The time to act is now by supporting the Fix Housing First bill being ushered onto Capitol Hill as we speak. Congress and the new Obama administration have the ability to empower our industry and lead us out of this economic turmoil, but only if we voice our overwhelming support of Fix Housing First.
Experts across the country agree that the saving grace of our economy will be the housing industry. We will lead the recovery, hands down. But we must take action to ensure our success. Automakers and financial institutions have already acted, and the government responded with billions of dollars of support. The housing industry deserves the same support, and the entire country will reap the benefits.
The best way to lead our future recovery is to take action now, to speak our minds and urge our elected officials to do everything in their power to make sure the housing industry is given every chance to thrive again. Fix Housing First is the solution we need, but we'll fall short unless we join together to act swiftly and decisively in its favor:
